Inspired by my nieces impromptu 'Just For Funzies' photoshoot, I too played around and transformed backyard images to downtown Gotham.
My husband's nieces are so incredibly creative and talented. At ages 17 and 21, they spend their free time thinking up and executing photoshoots... complete with makeup, costumes and even handmade props! I was a creative kid, but I sure as heck wasn't doing ANYTHING near that level when I was their age.
When I saw their recent Harley Quinn Cosplay themed photoshoot hit my socials, I was inspired to bring their scenes to life.
Putting the pieces together.
After quite liteally stealing my faves from thier post, I instantly hit up the internet for stock photography to hunt out the perfect (or nearly perfect) angles for a downtown nightlife scene. I knew I wanted the compositions to have the dark and moody 'Gotham Vibes', but also still be super saturated and bright, paying homage to the nostalgia of a fresh comic book. With this in mind, I also knew I didn't have a lot of time to invest and wanted this to be more of an exercise than a high rendered project... So I snagged a photoshop filter to get them pretty close, pretty quickly, and then fine tune as needed.
DISCLAIMER: I cheated and used the object aware to do my silhouetting, cuz... well... I just wanted to play around, aaaaand 'Aint nobody got time for that.' :)

The filter was a great tool, it helped speed things up a bit and kept the different environments feeling cohesive. Of course, it wasn't a 'one size fits all' and some additional hand painting was needed to push some areas further, reign back others, and add overall depth... but I find this to be pretty standard when using any filter across multiple pieces. Maybe I'll update my post to include a layer breakdown video if I get enough likes on this post. :)
All in all, I was quite pleased with the turnout of the pieces. I managed to only spend a couple hours on them, and had fun in the process.
